Ray Bell, Ph.D., PMP has a diverse work experience in various industries. Ray is currently working as a Data Science Manager and Principal Data Scientist at DTN since February 2021. Prior to that, they served as a Data Scientist at Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. from December 2019 to February 2021. In this role, they conducted time series forecasting of sales and worked on AI and ML projects for optimizing marketing campaigns. Before that, they worked as a Senior Analyst at Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. from September 2018 to December 2019, focusing on revenue strategy.

Ray's work experience also includes serving as a Research Scientist at the University of Miami from December 2015 to September 2018. In this role, they utilized big data and machine learning to improve weather and ocean forecasts for the Department of Defense. Ray also worked on sub-seasonal forecasting projects.

Before joining the University of Miami, Ray worked as a Metocean Engineer at BP from November 2013 to December 2015. In this role, they participated in a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between the University of Reading and BP, where they worked on reassessing the design criteria of offshore platforms using research on extreme weather events. Ray also co-developed a hindcast used in the reassessment of a platform in the North Sea.

Ray's professional journey started as a PhD student at the University of Reading from October 2010 to November 2013. During this time, they focused on climate modeling, published papers, and presented at conferences. Ray also briefly worked at the Met Office as part of the Ocean Waves team, where they added a perturbed physics scheme to an ocean wave model ensemble.

In 2008, Ray volunteered at the Australian Institute of Marine Science for six weeks, where they processed and analyzed data related to ocean circulation. Ray also worked as a Project Scientist at Princeton Hydro, LLC in August 2007.

Ray Bell, Ph.D., PMP completed their education with a Ph.D. in Atmosphere, Oceans and Climate from the University of Reading in 2014. Prior to that, they earned a degree in Oceanography (MOcean) from the University of Southampton in 2010. Ray has also obtained various certifications, including training in Kubernetes, Apache Spark SQL, AWS Data Analytics, and several others.
