Cate Huston

Cate Huston has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Cate is currently the Engineering Director for Native Apps at DuckDuckGo, a position they have held since June 2020. Prior to that, they worked at Automattic from November 2016 to May 2020, where they had an unspecified role. In 2015, they served as the Director of Mobile Engineering at Ride.com.

Cate also had a significant tenure at Google starting in January 2011 and ending in September 2014. During their time at Google, they worked as a Software Engineer in various locations, such as Waterloo, Sydney, and London. Cate'sresponsibilities included developing mobile applications like Mobile Gmail, G+, Drive, and Maps for iOS and Android. Cate also led projects involving Presentations and Coordinate for iOS.

Before Google, Cate was involved with the Awesome Foundation KW and Awesome Foundation Ottawa, where they held roles as a Co-Conspirator and Instigator of Awesome, respectively. Cate also worked as an Independent Consultant from January 2010 to January 2011.

Cate's early career involved positions at the University of Ottawa, where they worked as a Workshop Coordinator and Teaching Assistant, and at IBM, where they served as an Extreme Blue Intern. Additionally, they worked as a Ski Instructor at Edelweiss for a brief period in 2010.

Cate Huston obtained a BSc degree in Computer Science from The University of Edinburgh, where they studied from 2003 to 2007. Subsequently, from 2008 to 2011, they attended the University of Ottawa, although it is unclear if they pursued a specific degree or field of study during this period.
