Maria Karanasou

Maria Karanasou is a Senior Backend Engineer at DuckDuckGo since December 2021, focusing on SERP tuning and machine learning challenges, including the current project AI Chat duck. Prior experience includes serving as Lead Developer at eQualit.ie where Maria contributed to the Deflect platform by developing Baskerville, a near-real-time analysis engine for abnormal traffic detection. Additional roles encompass Technical Consulting for Hitting Home CIC, a Machine Learning/Data Engineer at ENCODE, and earlier positions in software engineering and IT management at various companies, including NSN and Ionios Brokers SA. Maria holds a Master’s Degree in Network-Oriented Information Systems and an undergraduate degree in Digital Systems from the University of Piraeus.
