Ariana Matarangas

Peer Student-athlete Tutor at Duke Athletics

Ariana Matarangas is an undergraduate researcher at Duke University School of Medicine, focusing on the molecular mechanisms of chondrosarcoma metastasis with an anticipated Graduation with Distinction project. Ariana is also a Bass Connections Fellow in the Injury Biomechanics Lab, contributing to research on mild traumatic brain injury in youth athletes. As a peer student-athlete tutor for Duke Athletics, Ariana assists fellow students in sciences and Spanish, while also serving as a photographer for the Duke Athletics social media team. Further experience includes participation in the Draw Your Way Through Medicine Pre-Med fellowship, where skills in graphic design were developed to enhance health literacy. Previous experience includes conducting clinical research at Northwell Health under Dr. Bhupesh Parashar. Ariana is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from Duke University and attended Roslyn High School prior to enrollment.
