Tom Olsen

Tom Olsen is an experienced reporter with a focus on crime, courts, and public safety at the Duluth News Tribune since August 2013. Prior to this role, Olsen worked as a staff reporter for the Duluth Budgeteer News and Lake County News Chronicle, covering a range of topics from city council meetings to community features. Experience in journalism began at The UMD Statesman as a reporter and editor, where Olsen covered news and sports stories while serving as the sports editor. Earlier experience includes an internship at Northland's NewsCenter, where multimedia storytelling skills were developed, and contributing to The New York Times' Slap Shot blog. Tom Olsen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism/Communication from the University of Minnesota Duluth.
