Mai Tamimi, PhD, MNZM, is an accomplished professional currently serving as Team Leader in Community Development at Dunedin City Council since July 2021, and as a member of the Ministerial Advisory Group on the Government Response to the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the Christchurch mosque terrorist attack. With extensive experience in community engagement and integration, Mai has held roles such as Community Advisor at Dunedin City Council and Middle Eastern Integration Coordinator at Arai Te Uru Whare Hauora. Additionally, Mai has contributed to the Multicultural Council of New Zealand and facilitated cultural competence workshops. Previous positions include Fundraising and Communications Manager at ActionAid Australia and Programme, Monitoring & Evaluation and Reporting Officer at UNDP PAAP. Mai holds a PhD in Human Geography from the University of Otago and two master's degrees related to institutional building and sustainable development.
