Alev Senem Ozakin

Alev Senem Ozakin's work experience includes being a Certified Language Instructor/Host at Duolingo, where they host online classes to improve language skills in English and Turkish. Alev Senem also teaches IELTS Academic Test Preparation courses. Alev Senem worked at Duolingo from January 2021 to the present. Additionally, Alev worked as a Host Vetting Specialist at Duolingo from March 2022 to August 2022. Prior to joining Duolingo, they worked as a Language Teacher (English and Turkish) at Preply from June 2021 to November 2021. Alev also has experience as an English Language Teacher at Kocatürk Okulları from September 2016 to June 2019, at Amerikan Kültür Dil Okulları from January 2015 to September 2016, and at Güzelyalı Ortaokulu from September 2015 to June 2016.

Alev Senem Ozakin started their education at MEV Koleji Özel Güzelbahçe Okullar, where they completed their primary and secondary school education from the year 2000 to 2008. Alev Senem then attended Bagsvaerd Kostskole & Gymnasium in Copenhagen, Denmark as part of the Socrates Student Exchange Program from 2010 to 2011, studying English Language.

In 2012, Alev enrolled at Dokuz Eylul University and pursued a Bachelor's Degree in English Language Teaching (ELT), which they completed in 2016. During their time at Dokuz Eylul University, they also participated in the Erasmus Student Exchange Program at Kujawsko-Pomorska Szkola Wyzsza w Bydgoszczy, Poland, studying English Language Teaching.

After completing their Bachelor's Degree, Alev Senem Ozakin joined Universitat Pompeu Fabra and obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics from 2019 to 2020.

In addition to their formal education, Alev Senem Ozakin has obtained various certifications. These include completing the Curso de Español, Nivel 3 (B1 MECR/CEFR) with a score of 9.3/10 from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in April 2022. Alev Senem also gave an oral presentation at the 12th Annual Pronunciation in Second Language Learning and Teaching Conference (PSLLT 2021) organized by Brock University in June 2021.

Furthermore, Alev Senem Ozakin has obtained certifications from International House World Organisation on topics such as Emotional Intelligence and Classroom Dynamics, How to Recognize and Survive Teacher Burnout, Motivation and Effectiveness - Practical Applications of Psychology, and Using Drama in EFL Classes. Alev Senem also participated in the Cambridge English Teacher Training Roadshow organized by Cambridge English Language Assessment in 2016. Additionally, they are a certified Duolingo Educator and has attended various ELT events and conferences for professional development in the field of English Language Teaching.
