Kendra Janelle Ross

Kendra Janelle Ross, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Kendra Janelle is currently serving as the Head of Social Impact at Duolingo, where they are responsible for developing the best education in the world and making it universally available. Kendra Janelle is also the Founding Co-Chair of Duolingo B.

In addition to their role at Duolingo, Kendra is a Member at Chief, a professional network for women leaders. Kendra Janelle is also a Board of Governors Member at The Recording Academy's Philadelphia Chapter, where they advocate for the music community.

Kendra serves as a Member of the Board of Directors at Allegheny Regional Asset District (RAD), appointed by Mayor Ed Gainey. The RAD supports and finances regional assets in areas such as libraries, parks and recreation, cultural, sports, and civic facilities and programs.

Prior to their current positions, Kendra was a Partner at ACT3 Consulting Partners. Kendra Janelle also owns and creates music at Lola's Child Music.

Earlier in their career, Kendra served as an Assistant Professor at Point Park University. Kendra Janelle also worked at Universal Music Group as the Director of Label Process Operations. Before that, they worked as an Entertainer/Performer, specializing in professional background vocals and performance art.

Kendra holds a PhD and has a rich background in the education and music industries.

Kendra Janelle Ross, PhD completed their Bachelor of Music (B.M.) degree in Music Business and Technology at New York University. Kendra Janelle then pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Anthropology at The New School from 2009 to 2011. Later, they earned another Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Liberal Studies from Brooklyn College, which they attended from 2004 to 2006. In 2015, Kendra undertook their doctoral studies and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Community Engagement from Point Park University in 2020.

Kendra also holds several certifications to supplement their education. Kendra Janelle has completed the Big Data For Social Good certificate program at Harvard Business School Online in September 2022. Additionally, they obtained the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education in May 2021. In January 2021, Kendra acquired the Big Data - What Every Manager Needs to Know certification from Experfy. Kendra Janelle also completed two data science courses through LinkedIn: The Data Science of Sports Management with Barton Poulson in January 2021 and The Data Science of Media and Entertainment with Barton Poulson in October 2020.
