Tom Hughes attended Southwest High School from 1974 to 1977. Tom then went on to Tarrant County Junior College from 1977 to 1979, studying Geology and Computer Science. Finally, they enrolled at Texas Tech University in 1978, focusing on Geology and Business Administration.
