Ashley Franks-McGill has a diverse work experience. Ashley began their career as the Gallery Coordinator at the Historical Society of Long Beach in 2012. Ashley then moved on to become the Special Projects Manager at The Framer's Workshop in 2015. In 2016, they held the positions of Administrative Assistant-Museum Studies Department at John F. Kennedy University and Film & Digital Media Archivist Intern at Oddball Films. In 2017, they were an Archives Intern at Pixar Animation Studios. From 2018 to 2021, they were a Film Digitization Volunteer at Internet Archive, a Media Archivist at Multicom Entertainment Group, Inc., and a Lead Film Archivist and Film Vault Technician at Duplitech. In 2022, they became the Mentorship Project Director, AMIA Mentorship Pilot Project at the Association of Moving Image Archivists, where they had previously held the positions of Secretary, AMIA ADIFP Task Force and Co-Chair, AMIA Mentorship Working Group from 2019 to 2021.
Ashley Franks-McGill has a diverse educational background. Ashley obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in American Studies from California State University, Fullerton between 2007 and 2013. Ashley then went on to pursue a Master of Arts (MA) in Museology/Museum Studies - Collections Management and a Master's Degree in Business Administration and Management - Leadership from John F. Kennedy University between 2015 and 2018. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, such as DaVinci Resolve Fundamentals from LinkedIn in May 2022, Fundamentals of a Redesign and Introduction to Web Design and Development from LinkedIn in March 2020, and Excel Essential Training (Office 365) from LinkedIn in August 2019.
