Katja van der Steen

Katja van der Steen, PhD, is a seasoned professional in tailoring and education, currently serving as a freelance tailor for Nederlands Dans Theater and Dutch National Opera & Ballet since April 2024 and August 2022, respectively. Katja operates a bespoke tailoring and educational service since July 2022, while also tutoring for the Ambacht in Beeld Festival, Branchevereniging Modeambachten, and Craftscouncil Netherlands since early 2020. Prior experience includes a position as a tailor at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow from August 2021 to January 2022 and various business analyst roles at CHAMP Cargosystems between April 2008 and June 2020. Katja's educational background includes a PhD and a Master's degree in Linguistics from Ulyanovsk State University, along with advanced technique certifications in tailoring from BurdaStyle Academy and Meestercouper Heren from Meesteropleiding Couper.
