Alan Metzler

Alan joined Dynamis in April 2017 as a Senior Principal and Director of the Security Solutions portfolio, bringing with him three decades of leadership experience as well as national defense and homeland security expertise. He leads a business unit that provides security-related services to the public and private sector and is the company lead for corporate growth. Alan has served in several senior executive roles, military leadership positions, and operational commands over his career, establishing a record of success in the Department of Defense, Homeland Security, and the U.S. Air Force.

Prior to joining Dynamis, Alan was appointed as Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations in the Department of Homeland Security. He ensured execution of DHS operations across its 22 agencies and in missions essential to the nation’s protection, including aviation security, counterterrorism, enforcement of U.S. law, and the safety of the national leaders. He played a key role in the strategic and operational transition to new DHS cabinet leadership and implemented several homeland security initiatives to address terrorism threats to civil aviation and the national critical infrastructure.

Alan also served in Presidential appointments as the Chief of Staff for the Transportation Security Administration and as a Senior Counselor to the Secretary of Homeland Security. In DHS, his law enforcement and security expertise were invaluable to the Department’s focus on countering terrorism and violent extremism, enhancing public safety.

Alan also served in a variety of leadership and operational roles in his Air Force career. Notable assignments included service as Chief of Security Forces for Air Combat Command, Deputy Director of the DoD’s Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office, as an Air Expeditionary Group Commander, and as a Director on the National Security Council in the Executive Office of the President.

Alan graduated with High Honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara and earned a Master of Public Administration from Troy State University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, and a distinguished graduate of the National War College and the Marine Corps Command and Staff College.
