Ian D. French

Mr. Ian French is the chief technology officer of E Ink (Taiwan), responsible for leading the R&D team to develop new technologies and products.

Ian joined E Ink in 2010 and is responsible for the development of flexible electronic paper displays, large-size displays, and TFT architectures required for various latest product applications, including round watches, punch holes, curved wristbands, etc. In recent years, Ian has been responsible for leading the development of E Ink Kaleido color printed electronic paper display. Color printed electronic paper is the first batch of color electronic paper produced and shipped by E Ink in recent years.

Before joining E Ink, Ian worked at Philips Research for many years, responsible for various display technologies and imaging projects, and developed plasma deposited layers (Plasma Deposited Layers) for various thin film (Thin Film) technologies and applications. While at Philips, Ian was involved in many basic scientific research and device development, and worked on technology transfer to partners in the Netherlands, Japan and Korea.

Ian is a graduate of Sussex University, UK and holds an MSc from Dundee University.
