About the role

We are looking for a strategic and highly resourceful individual to own competitive intelligence (CI) activities across therapy areas and enabling technologies including AI. The role will support and drive activities across the value chain from early drug discovery to partnering, delivering insights that guide and future-proof our pipeline and overall strategy. The successful candidate will report to our Head of BD and CI.

This is an exciting, high-growth opportunity with extensive exposure to highly strategic matters and leadership teams.

The position is based in London, UK. The working hours for this role are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with attendance at the company premises in London Paddington on four days per week (Monday to Thursday), with a fifth day (Friday) to be worked from home (or the office if you prefer).

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as internal hub for business insights. Stay abreast of sector news and effectively disseminate important developments to all relevant members of the team.

  • Carry out holistic data-driven target-indication pair assessments in cross-functional teams, covering key dimensions including intellectual property, disease biology, unmet need, asset developability and commercial attractiveness.

  • Support BD activities, identifying target companies and supporting asset valuations.

  • Assist in the identification of key opinion leaders (KOLs) and be a key contributor in primary market research.

  • Liaise with pipeline project leads, providing an external perspective informing and refining target product profiles (TPP) and regularly assessing commercial attractiveness in light of the current standard of care and emerging therapies.

  • Build and maintain holistic landscapes for current and new therapy areas and indications, supporting ETX’s continued pipeline development and expansion.

  • As a key user of dedicated AI tools and resources, support their continued development in collaboration with AI and software engineering teams.

  • Carefully monitor external activities and developments impacting ETX projects, plans and overall strategy, generating fit-for-purpose alerts and insights depending on type of internal/external audiences.

  • Spark discussion around sector activity and distil key conclusions and/or actions.

Previous skills & experience

  • Strategic mindset with a strong data-driven quantitative approach and business acumen
  • Ability to consume data, connect concepts, identify trends, source hard to find information, contextualise and derive insights
  • Adept working with advanced technology and keen to drive further the digital agenda including the adoption of AI solutions
  • Life-sciences background
  • Working with diverse information and data sources including patents, scientific publications, clinical trial data, financial information and wider biopharma news sources
  • Familiar with biopharmaceutical standards and the drug development process, with an ability to interpret clinical and pre-clinical data from a competitive perspective
  • Experience in similar roles in the biopharma industry and/or specialist investment firms
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency
  • Not afraid of taking on new challenges with little direction
  • Ability to deliver quality work under pressure to meet tight timelines
  • Team player and able to build strong functional relationships internally
