As Principal at ESa, David serves as a Senior Planner/Designer and Team Leader for site and architectural master planning. He helps facilitate project communication and coordination across all disciplines in the design process. David joined ESa in 1980, shortly after earning a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Louisiana Tech University. His expertise includes working with patient and family centered care concepts for healthcare facilities, and designing/leading complex projects—pediatric hospitals, intensive care hospitals, dialysis centers, cancer treatment centers, medical research centers and trauma centers.
David defines excellent client service as not just providing a service, but also “building a relationship that shows the client we care about them and share their common goals to create the best possible solutions.” David has been involved with multiple new construction, expansion and renovation projects on the Vanderbilt University Medical Center campus for more than 30 years, including the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and the Critical Care Tower.
In David’s opinion, there is no other firm that cares as much about people as ESa. “We cultivate a very nurturing, family-oriented environment that promotes professional learning throughout the ESa family.” Outside of the office, David enjoys gardening—especially growing and eating tomatoes—fishing with his family and traveling.
