Wendell D. Brown

Principal at ESa

As Principal, Wendell’s prime responsibilities include team leadership, design oversight and providing responsive client service. Born in White Bluff, TN, Wendell earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Tennessee (with honors). Upon graduation, Wendell joined ESa in 1990, and has remained a dedicated employee for over 25 years.

Wendell’s seasoned portfolio includes a wide range of work—master planning and design for corporate office facilities, hospitality venues and religious institutions, with a specific focus toward education markets. Wendell has significant experience in the design and management of projects for colleges and universities, as well as other educational institutions and libraries. Wendell is a member of the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP).

Guided by the principles of establishing a sense of place, fostering a nurturing environment and creating high performance architecture, Wendell’s personal design philosophy consists of “partnering with clients to explore design ideas and shepherd them through the design process.” Wendell believes that architecture should reflect a distinct culture and harmony with a campus, while creating a place to help foster intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual growth.

Wendell is heavily involved in the leadership within Woodmont Christian Church and is a board member for “Fight DMD,” a nonprofit organization to fund medical research to cure Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. In his personal time, Wendell enjoys spending time with his family, especially with his kids and their activities.
