Katie Issel Pitre

Katie Issel Pitre is a seasoned teaching artist with extensive experience in performing arts education. Currently serving as the Lead Teaching Artist at San Francisco Opera since August 2015, Katie designs residencies for K-6 students, collaborating with classroom teachers. Additionally, as a Teaching Artist at East Bay Center for the Performing Arts, responsibilities include facilitating an opera music class for upper elementary grades, aligning content with educational standards, and preparing students for performances. With a background in dance and yoga, Katie also instructs yoga classes while pursuing certification. Prior roles include teaching artist positions at various organizations, such as New Victory Theatre and New Jersey Performing Arts Centre, where collaborative and multidisciplinary approaches to arts education were emphasized. Katie holds a Master of Arts in Educational Theatre from New York University and a Bachelor's Degree in Community Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
