Miranda Thorman currently serves as the Executive Director of East Bay Innovation Academy, a public charter school in Oakland, CA, since June 2023. Previously, from July 2019 to June 2023, Miranda was the Middle School Principal at The Academy of Alameda, where a transition to a more equitable competency-based learning model was led. Prior experience includes roles as the Dean of Academics and Culture at Summit Public Schools and as a lead curriculum designer for Social Studies. Miranda's teaching background spans numerous high schools in the San Francisco Bay Area, including participation in the International Baccalaureate program at Berkeley High School. Educational qualifications include a Master's in Education from Stanford University and a Bachelor's degree in History, Gender Studies, and Music from the University of California, San Diego.
