Rafael Fuentes

Rafael Fuentes is an accomplished engineering and facilities management professional with extensive experience in the energy sector. Currently serving as the Facilities Portfolio Manager at Sandia National Laboratories since April 2018, Rafael manages project implementation, building assessments, and resource conservation while acting as the primary contact for Mission Partners and Facilities Area Managers. Previously, Rafael held the position of Engineering Manager at East Kentucky Power Cooperative, overseeing a team of nine and managing a $25 million capital budget for a coal-fired power generation facility. Rafael's early career includes a role as Senior Electrical Engineer/Facilities Project Manager at Sacramento Municipal Utility District, where responsibilities encompassed developing electrical plans, managing project scopes, schedules, and costs. Rafael earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Electrical Power from the University of the Pacific.
