Ty Strang

Research Consultant - Strategic Trust Initiative at EastWest Institute

Ty Strang has a diverse work experience beginning in 2005. Ty began their career as a Television Show Host, Actor, and Writer for China Educational Television. Ty then worked as an English Teacher for Leadership for Life, a division of Pearson Longman ELT. In 2005, they also worked as an Automotive Sales Representative for Texas Toyota of Grapevine. In 2007, they became a Resident Adviser for Goodall Wooten Dormitory. In 2009, they worked as a Waiter for Ming's Cafe, as well as a Peace Corps Volunteer, where they taught English, designed exams, and completed multiple secondary projects. In 2013, they became a Research Consultant - Strategic Trust Initiative for EastWest Institute, as well as an Assistant Coach - Youth Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for Westside MMA. Finally, in 2014, they became a Coach for Aces Jiu Jitsu Club.

Ty Strang obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Asian Cultures and Languages: China and Mandarin from The University of Texas at Austin in 2009. In 2008, they participated in the 2008 TUSA Mandarin Chinese Language and Culture Program at National Pingtung University of Education. In 2003, they attended Tarrant County College. In addition, Ty Strang holds a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Purple Belt from Aces Jiu Jitsu Club, Mikal Abdullah which they obtained in November 2015, an Advanced Open Water Diver from Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) which they obtained in July 2006, and a Taekwondo Black Belt, 2nd Dan from Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Headquarters which they obtained in February 2004.
