Wei Heong Tan, PhD has a diverse work experience in the engineering field. Wei Heong started their career as a Mechanical Engineer at Singapore Technologies Aerospace in 2001. In this role, they gained valuable experience until 2002. Wei Heong then joined Schlumberger as a Mechanical Engineer in 2007, where they designed and developed mechanical packaging for a new pressure sensor, resulting in a patent application. After two years at Schlumberger, they joined the Elliott Group, Ebara Corp in 2009 as a Technical Service Manager in the Asia-Pacific region. Here, they provided technical support, performed failure analysis, and contributed to repair proposals and modifications. In 2015, they transitioned to the role of Regional Repair Manager, responsible for setting up a common technical platform and standardizing work processes across three repair shops in Asia-Pacific. Since September 2018, they have held the position of Managing Director for Elliott Group in Singapore.

Wei Heong Tan, PhD, completed a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Singapore from 1997 to 2001. Wei Heong then pursued a Masters of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Tokyo from 2002 to 2004. Continuing their education at the University of Tokyo, they obtained a Doctorate in Information Science and Technology with a field of study in Mechano-Informatics from 2004 to 2007. Currently, they are enrolled at NUS Business School, undertaking an EMBA degree in Business Administration and Management, General, which started in 2022.
