Panos Smyroglou

Panos Smyroglou has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Panos started their career in 1995 as a Surveyor at the International Maritime Centre, where they conducted inspections for Joson Classification Society and carried out vessel reconstructions and safety system upgrades. In 1998, they joined N. Bogdanos Marine Bureau as a Commercial Manager, where they marketed and secured shiprepair projects for Greek shipowners and selected Principals. In 2003, they volunteered as a Webmaster for the St. Andrew's Society of Athens. In 2014, they became the Chief Commercial Officer at Coldharbour Marine Ltd., an engineering business specializing in inert gas and water treatment. Panos played a key role in the development of their Sea Guardian™ Inert Gas Generator and GLD™ BWTS technologies. In 2008, they co-founded Abacus Marine Consultants, a Naval Architects and Marine Engineers company providing dedicated services to selected marine concerns. Currently, since 2020, they serve as the VP of Sales & Marketing at Ecochlor, Inc., where they are responsible for business development and marketing strategies.

Panos Smyroglou began their education in 1980 at St. Paul in Piraeus, Greece, where they completed their primary education. From 1987 to 1990, they attended Technologiko Ekpaideutiko Idrima in Athinas, focusing on Naval Architecture and Ship Building. In 1991, they enrolled at the University of Glasgow and graduated in 1993 with a BEng degree in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering. Panos furthered their education by pursuing an MSc in Naval Architecture at the University of Southampton from 1995 to 1996. In 1996, Smyroglou obtained a Certificate in Welding and Joining Technology from The Welding Institute in Cambridge, UK. Later in 1997, they completed a Certified Training Course on ISM Auditing at Ferriby Marine, U.K., which is authorized by the International Register of Certified Auditors.
