Jasmin Basic is a prominent figure in the film and arts industry with extensive experience in various roles. Currently serving as the Coordinatrice Master Cinéma at ECAL University of Art and Design Lausanne/HEAD - Geneva since September 2019, Jasmin has held significant positions, including Head of Fiction Programme at FIFDH Genève and Senior Industry Consultant at Visions du Réel. As a co-founder and rédactrice for Tess Mag Travel, Jasmin contributes to cultural discourse through travel journalism. Active in academia, Jasmin lectures on Anthropology and Sociology of Development at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies and is a member of the Swiss Film Academy. Involved in several organizations, including Bidayyat for Audiovisual Arts and the Global Migration Film Festival, Jasmin has played pivotal roles in programming and selecting films for various festivals, enhancing the representation of diverse narratives in cinema. Enjoying international renown and featuring regularly among the world’s top ten universities of art and design, ECAL is directed by Alexis Georgacopoulos. The school currently offers six Bachelor programmes (Fine Arts, Cinema, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Media & Interaction Design, Photography), five Master programmes (Fine Arts, Film, Photography, Product Design, Type Design) and two Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Design for Luxury & Craftsmanship and in Design Research for Digital Innovation (with EPFL+ECAL Lab). ECAL also offers a one-year Foundation Course to prepare students for entrance to the different Bachelor’s programmes. ECAL has grown consistently in terms of student numbers (600 at the beginning of the 2018–2019 academic year) and above all its presence on the international scene.
