Mariano Morán

Senior Geospatial Data Analyst at NYC Economic Development Corporation

Mariano Morán has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Mariano started their career as a Research Assistant at ITAM in 2011, where they worked until 2013. Mariano then joined ARAPAU Consulting as a Junior Consultant, contributing to the development of processes manuals and protocols. In 2014, they moved to Estrategia y Análisis Económico Consultores as a Projects Leader, leading a research team and providing policy recommendations for commercial ports in Mexico.

In 2016, Mariano joined NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service as a Graduate Assistant for the Urban Planning Program, and later became a Geographic Information Systems Teacher Assistant, assisting students and creating class laboratories.

From 2017 to 2018, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at NYU Furman Center, performing data analysis and coding using SAS, Stata, and R, as well as conducting ArcGIS mapping.

In 2018, Mariano took on the role of Equitable Development Data Manager at Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation, focusing on data management for development projects.

Most recently, since 2018, they have been with the New York City Economic Development Corporation. Mariano started as a Ports/Transportation Intern and later became a GIS Intern. Currently, they hold the position of Geospatial Data Analyst and recently transitioned to the role of Senior Geospatial Data Analyst.

Mariano Morán has a diverse educational background with a focus on data science and urban planning. In 2022, they completed a Data Science course at General Assembly. Prior to that, from 2016 to 2018, they obtained a Master's Degree in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Mariano had also pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México, which they completed between 2006 and 2012. Moreover, they hold a certification in "Reclaiming the Street for Livable Urban Spaces" from Coursera, obtained in January 2021.
