Kerry Mindeman has worked in education since 2001. Kerry began their career as a Teacher for Chicago Public Schools, where they taught science and Language Arts to 4th through 6th graders. Kerry also assisted in their district's efforts in unpacking and developing Language Arts curricula around the common core, and mentored new teachers. In 2016, they moved to Coloma Elementary School, where they worked as a Literacy Coach. In this role, they worked with grade level PLC's to build MTSS structures, used data to drive instruction, and developed instructional best practices. Kerry also trained and managed paraprofessionals in progress monitoring and scripted literacy intervention instructional practice. In 2018, they joined Berrien RESA as a K-3 Literacy Consultant. In 2021, they became an EdConnective Coach for EdConnective, and in 2022, they began their current role as an Instructional Support Leader for Chicago Public Schools.
Kerry Mindeman has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English Literature and Gender Studies from Knox College, which they obtained between 1997 and 2001. Kerry then obtained a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University between 2001 and 2003. In 2008, they obtained a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Literacy, Language, & Culture from the University of Illinois Chicago. In 2008 and 2017, they were also certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards as a National Board Certified Teacher.
