Brendan then pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics, Psychology, and Philosophy from University College Dublin, which they completed in the years 1992 to 1995.

Subsequently, they attended Trinity College Dublin from 1996 to 1997, where they earned a Higher Diploma in Education focused on Educational/Instructional Technology.
