Dr. Chanda Waters (Battle) has a diverse work experience in the education field. Dr. Chanda began their career as an English Teacher at Hertford County High School in 2001 and later taught at Pitt County Schools and Pitt Community College. In 2006, they became a Developmental English and Reading Instructor at Durham Technical Community College. Dr. Waters then served as the Supplemental Instruction Coordinator/Instructor in the School of Education at North Carolina Central University from 2008 to 2010. Dr. Chanda transitioned to Rocky Mount High School, where they worked as an Assistant Principal from 2010 to 2014. Dr. Waters then became the Principal of Northampton County High School from 2014 to 2018. Since 2018, they have been a Program Coordinator at the Public School Forum of North Carolina. Dr. Chanda currently holds the role of Director of Student Support Services at Edgecombe County Public Schools, starting in 2020.

Dr. Chanda Waters (Battle) obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from East Carolina University in 2001. In 2005, they completed their Masters of Arts in Teaching English 9-12 from the same institution. Dr. Chanda then pursued a Masters in School Administration at North Carolina Central University from 2010 to 2012. Finally, they earned their Doctor of Education in K-12 Leadership from East Carolina University between 2018 and 2021.
