Jessica DeGroote Nelson has extensive work experience in the field of optics. Jessica began their career in 2007 as the Director of Technology and Strategy at Optimax Systems, Inc., where they worked until 2022. During their time at Optimax Systems, Inc., they were responsible for leading the technology and strategy initiatives of the company.

In 2010, Jessica joined the Institute of Optics as an Adjunct Assistant Professor. Jessica held this position for an undisclosed period, contributing to the institute's educational programs and research endeavors.

Recently, in 2022, Jessica joined Edmund Optics as the Senior Director of Optical Product Development. In their current role, they oversee the development of optical products and plays a key leadership role in the company's product innovation and strategy.

Later, in 2011 and 2013, they attended the University of Rochester - Simon Business School and obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
