Diogo de Bastos

Diogo de Bastos is a Senior Data Scientist and Quantitative Analyst at EDP since September 2022, where significant advancements in short-term price forecasting have been achieved by reducing error margins from 15% to 5% through the application of advanced machine learning techniques, including LSTM and CNN, using Python and SQL for data management. Previously, as a PhD candidate in Physics at CERN from January 2018 to July 2023, Diogo conducted groundbreaking research in high energy physics, specifically measuring limits for top squark pair production cross section at the Large Hadron Collider. Additional experience includes a summer internship at the Laboratório de Instrumentação e Física Experimental de Partículas, co-founding a startup called Qold, and holding various roles at jeknowledge, including Chief Executive and Innovation Officer. Diogo holds a PhD in Physics from Instituto Superior Técnico and a Master's degree in Engineering Physics from Universidade de Coimbra, complemented by certificates in English from the University of Cambridge.
