EDUCATION FOR CHANGE
Chance Ward is an experienced educator with a background in English instruction, having served as an English Teacher at Education for Change Public Schools since August 2022 and previously at Elmhurst United Middle School from August 2021 to June 2022. Prior roles include teaching at KIPP Foundation and serving as a Teaching Assistant through AmeriCorps. Additionally, Chance has experience in community outreach and event planning as a Community Specialist/Programming Assistant at the Center for Gender Equity at Occidental College, along with editorial responsibilities as a Diversity Editor for Occidental Weekly. Chance holds a Bachelor's degree in Cultural Studies/Critical Theory and Analysis from Occidental College, earned in 2018.

Education for Change (EFC) is Oakland’s largest charter management organization, non-profit. We operate 7 free public charter schools in and serve over 3,000 Tk-10 students in the Fruitvale and Elmhurst neighborhoods of East Oakland.
