Derrick Shaw

Derrick Shaw is an experienced educator currently serving as an English Teacher at Achievement First since September 2024, specializing in AP Seminar for 11th and 12th graders. Prior to this role, Derrick taught 6th Grade History at KIPP NYC from August 2021 to August 2024, where Derrick effectively utilized digital systems to track student data and fostered relationships with stakeholders to enhance educational outcomes. Derrick's earlier experience includes teaching Kindergarten at Ascend Public Charter Schools from August 2017 to June 2021 and serving as a Culture Leader, where efforts focused on tracking student behavior and improving school culture. Derrick began a career in education with positions at The Y (YMCA) and City Year, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Brooklyn College and a Master of Science in Marketing from Southern New Hampshire University.
