Elena Rivera

Elena Rivera is an experienced education professional currently serving as an Education Specialist at Education for Change Public Schools since July 2023. Previously, Elena held multiple roles at Oakland Unified School District from July 2021 to July 2023, including Special Education Instructional Coach/Program Specialist, where support was provided to 26 Special Education teachers across nine schools. Responsibilities included observing teachers, offering feedback, and designing professional development in various areas. Prior to that, Elena worked as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Lead at Lazear Charter Academy and has a strong background in special education from positions held in various educational institutions. Elena holds a Master's degree in Human Rights Education from the University of San Francisco and credentials in Special Education. Elena’s educational journey also includes a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Merchandising from California State University, Long Beach.
