Peter Monaghan currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for Trinity Academy Newcastle Trust and is a Strategic Lead for SEND and High Needs at Education Partnership North East. With extensive experience in educational leadership, Peter has held various roles including Head of SEND and High Needs and Curriculum, and Subject Specialist - SEND at Ofqual. Peter has over 17 years of service in the British Army as a WO2 in the Royal Engineers. Academic qualifications include an MRes in Inclusive Education and Social Justice from Lancaster University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Advancing Healthcare Practice from The Open University, and a Master of Education from Teesside University, among others. Previous roles include External Examiner at Buckinghamshire New University and Training Delivery Manager at St John Ambulance.

Education Partnership North East (EPNE) is a dynamic partnership between Sunderland College, Hartlepool Sixth Form and Northumberland College. We are the largest regional college group situated entirely in the North East of England. Our 6 main college campuses are situated in Ashington, Ponteland, Sunderland, Washington and Hartlepool. As well as two sixth forms and two centres for special educational needs and disability, we also have a land based college specialising in animal, veterinary, agriculture. horticulture and rural skills.
