Shawnia White

Shawnia White is an experienced teaching artist specializing in dance education, currently serving at Educational Alliance since July 2012, where responsibilities include teaching various dance styles, preparing students for performances, and leading a ballet club for young girls. Previously, Shawnia held significant roles in dance movement therapy and case management at New Horizon Counseling Center, managing a diverse caseload and facilitating group therapy sessions for adults with mental health challenges. Additional experience includes internships at Woodhull Hospital and Bedford Stuyvesant Alcohol Treatment Center, volunteer work in the Dominican Republic, and a mentorship role at Roberto Clemente Elementary School. Shawnia holds a Master of Science in Dance Movement Therapy from Pratt Institute and a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Goucher College.
