Swapna Somasundaran

Swapna Somasundaran is a seasoned professional in the field of natural language processing, currently serving as the Director of Research for NLP at ETS since January 2013, overseeing a diverse team across multiple business portfolios. Previously, Swapna held the position of Managing Senior Research Scientist, leading a cross-functional team in developing automation solutions and conducting state-of-the-art NLP research. Swapna's earlier roles at ETS included Senior Research Scientist and Research Scientist, where leadership was provided in various initiatives aimed at advancing NLP and speech systems. Prior to ETS, Swapna gained experience as a Research Scientist at Siemens Corporate Research and as a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of Pittsburgh. Educational credentials include a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master's degree in Computer Science from The Johns Hopkins University, and a Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering from Mumbai University.
