George Babey

George Babey serves as the Vice President of Engineering at edX since November 2017, where responsibilities include leading the edX for Business unit and scaling a global engineering team. Concurrently, George is a founding member and board member of the Open edX Technical Oversight Committee. Previously, George held the position of Director of Engineering at Applause, overseeing a flagship testing product that significantly contributed to company revenue and led to an acquisition. George's earlier roles include engineering management positions at Carbonite and Stratus Technologies, as well as software engineering roles at Symantec, Altiris, Pedestal Software, and DISC. George holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
