Sam Sperry

Sam Sperry has over 20 years of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Sam is currently serving as the Vice President of Preclinical Development & Clinical Pharmacology at eFFECTOR Therapeutics, Inc. Sam joined the company in December 2021. Prior to this role, Sam held the position of Executive Director of DMPK at eFFECTOR from 2019 to 2021. From 2014 to 2019, they worked as the Director of Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics at eFFECTOR.

Before joining eFFECTOR, Sam worked at Vertex Pharmaceuticals as a Research Fellow I from 2008 to 2014. Prior to that, they were at SGX Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where they served as an Associate Director from 2008 to 2008, Senior Scientist II from 2005 to 2007, and Senior Scientist I from 2002 to 2005.

Sam also gained experience at Structural Bioinformatics as a Senior Scientist I from 2001 to 2002 and at Tularik as a Senior Research Associate from 2000 to 2001.

Overall, Sam Sperry has shown consistent growth in their career and has held various roles of increasing responsibility in drug development, preclinical development, and pharmacokinetics.

Sam Sperry earned a PhD in Organic Chemistry with a focus on Marine Natural Products from the University of California, Santa Cruz. This educational journey spanned from 1993 to 1998.
