Philippe Chambon MD, PhD

Philippe Chambon, MD, PhD has an extensive work experience spanning various roles and industries. Philippe is currently the Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO of EG427, which focuses on developing non-replicative Herpes virus derived vectors for gene therapy. Philippe has played a key role in advancing their first program towards IND, with a focus on Peripheral Nervous System diseases.

In addition, Philippe serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Novadiscovery and as the Vice Chairman of the Board and Founder of Atias Pharmaceuticals. Philippe has been involved in the healthcare industry and venture capital through their roles as a Venture Partner at LBO France and Senior Advisor at New Leaf Venture Partners.

Philippe played a significant role in the spin-out of the healthcare team from the Sprout Group, creating New Leaf Venture Partners in 2005. During their time at New Leaf Venture Partners, they were responsible for fundraising approximately $1 billion in aggregate for four NLV funds. Philippe remained as a Senior Advisor to the firm until the end of 2018.

Prior to their venture capital career, Philippe held positions at The Sprout Group, DLJ, Credit Suisse, and The Boston Consulting Group. Philippe started their career at Sandoz, where they served as a New Product Manager and later as the Executive Director of New Product Management.

Dr. Philippe Chambon's education history begins in 1979, where they enrolled at Université Paris Cité. Philippe pursued a MD PhD program and completed it in 1985. During the same year, in order to further their knowledge in microbiology, they attended Institut Pasteur and obtained a DEA degree. From 1986 to 1987, Dr. Chambon continued their education at Columbia University, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
