Thomas Engel

Thomas Engel is a board member at EIT Food. Thomas has had a long and successful career in management and engineering. Thomas Engel started their career as an assistant professor at Technical University Munich. Thomas then became a product manager at CLAAS. In 1998, they became an engineering manager at John Deere. Thomas led a team of engineers to develop hardware and software for precision farming, with a focus on yield sensing/mapping, GPS localization, and guidance systems. In 2003, they became the manager of AMS Europe at John Deere. During their time at John Deere, they were able to grow the department profitably from 20 to 40 employees.

Thomas Engel studied agricultural sciences at the Technical University Munich, where they received their diploma, PhD, and habilitation. Thomas also attended the Johann-Philipp-von-Schönborn-Gymnasium in Münnerstadt.
