Juliana Bustamante Reyes

Juliana Bustamante Reyes serves as the Director of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law at the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs since August 2024. Simultaneously, Juliana is a law school lecturer at Universidad de Los Andes, teaching courses on "Social Impact of Law" and "Memory and Peace Building," while also leading the research group "Memory and Peace." As a columnist for El Espectador, Juliana provides insights on transitional justice and peace-building issues. Additionally, Juliana has held leadership positions in various organizations, including as Director of PAIIS UNIANDES, focusing on rights for people with disabilities, and as a consultant for UN Women, supporting disability and social inclusion policies. Juliana's experience includes membership in the CADHPAZ advisory commission, consultations for the Inter-American Development Bank, and contributions to UNICEF Colombia regarding children's rights. Juliana holds master's degrees in International Relations and Human Rights from The University of Auckland and in International and Comparative Law from The George Washington University Law School, as well as a law degree from Universidad de Los Andes.
