Akila Murali has held various positions in the engineering and technology fields since 2016. In 2016, they worked as an R&D Intern at Pramura Software Private Limited, where they designed and tested analog front end pre-processing filters for a fetal heart rate monitor, developed Printed Circuit Board layouts, and completed a comprehensive product life cycle research and risk evaluation. From 2017 to 2018, they were a Graduate Student at California State University, Northridge, where they calculated theoretical values to model inductively coupled coils to power Jarvik 2000 Pediatric LVAD, created 3D models and ran simulations in multi-physics environments, and developed a phantom tissue to simulate the dielectric properties of human tissue. Akila also worked as a Web Developer & Technical Support Specialist, implementing courses developed and produced in learning management systems, QA, ADA compliance checking, video/audio production and editing tasks, and maintaining documentation and on-line help content. Additionally, they served as a Senator for College of Engineering and Computer Science, advocating and defending the interests of 41,000 CSUN students, initiating and approving policies and legislation for holistic campus development, and serving on committees in regards with internal affairs, academic technology, student graduation and retention. From 2018 to 2023, they worked as a Product Engineer at JEM America Corp., designing and delivering 150+ probe card projects, modelling 30+ 2D/3D mechanical parts, creating Bill of Material for parts, planning and scheduling, developing and maintaining documentation, and adhering to ISO9000:2015 standards. Akila is currently a Program Manager at Electric Hydrogen.

Akila Murali received their Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from Kumaraguru College of Technology in 2016. Akila then went on to pursue their Master's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at California State University, Northridge, which they completed in 2018. Prior to that, they had attended Avila Convent from 2002 to 2012, where they obtained their High School/Secondary Diplomas and Certificates. In 2022, Akila Murali obtained their Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
