Staff Control Systems Engineer at Electric Hydrogen Co.

Marc Ramirez has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Marc started their career as a Teaching Assistant at UC San Diego in 2004. From there, they worked as a Graduate Student Researcher at Los Alamos National Lab, where they were a member of the unmanned ground vehicle project team.

In 2006, Marc began their career in control systems engineering at Serra, an EandM company. Marc held roles as a Control Systems Engineer, Sr. Control Systems Engineer, and Lead Engineer. During this time, they designed, programmed, and commissioned PLC-based control systems, and also served as a technical resource for less experienced engineers.

In 2011, Marc joined NovaSolar USA as a PLC Engineer, where they wrote PLC software for vacuum deposition tools control and supported electrical group in the design of control networks.

Marc then worked at Areva Solar as a Sr. Controls Engineer and Controls Engineering Supervisor, where they were responsible for PLC application development for solar boilers and oversaw contractor software development for R&D projects.

In 2014, Marc joined Tesla as a Sr. Controls Engineer, and later became an Engineering Supervisor and Staff Manufacturing Engineer. In these roles, they focused on the launch and ramp-up of powertrain manufacturing equipment, implemented continuous improvement projects, and provided on-shift production support.

Marc then worked at Caban Systems as a Manufacturing Controls Engineer, overseeing equipment design, validation, and installation, as well as providing operations training for the production team.

Prior to their current role, Marc worked at Cepheid as a Staff Automation Controls Engineer, where they focused on equipment commissioning and improvements, software updates, and the implementation of changes to maintain validated status.

Currently, Marc is employed at X, the moonshot factory as a Controls Engineer, where they are the Controls Lead for an early pipeline cleantech project. Their responsibilities include programming and building test stand control systems, as well as project management of test stand assembly and operation.

Most recently, Marc joined Electric Hydrogen in 2023 as a Staff Control Systems Engineer.

Marc Ramirez has a strong educational background in engineering. Marc earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, where they attended from 2000 to 2004. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering at UC San Diego from 2004 to 2006.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Marc obtained a certification as a Certified Machine Safety Expert from TUV Nord in June 2015.
