Frank V.

Frank V. has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Frank started their career as a Producer's Assistant at Dust Brothers Produce Inc. in 1999. Frank then worked at various companies such as IBM, Rane Corporation, Sound Metrics, Helium Inc, Packt, Lunar Energy, RAKwireless, and currently at Element Energy.

At IBM, Frank developed data warehousing features for Db2, a distributed database server used by major banks. Frank also advocated for agile practices within the organization and wrote C/C++ code for high-profile line items.

During their time at Rane Corporation, they ported a real-time web server from Node.js to Python and developed SDK support packages for touch panel control systems.

At Sound Metrics, Frank implemented serverless functions for secure upload and processing of sonar diagnostic logs. Frank also developed a 2D scene graph in OpenGL for rendering underwater sonar images and extended the sonar's CAN protocol.

At Helium Inc, they were responsible for building, testing, and deploying blockchain software updates to Hotspots. Frank also played a key role in scaling Hotspot manufacturing and improved system performance through custom Linux kernel configuration.

Frank worked as a co-author at Packt, where they researched, wrote, and promoted the Third Edition of Mastering Embedded Linux Programming.

At Lunar Energy, they served as a Senior Staff Firmware Engineer, developing bare metal firmware for real-time control of power electronics.

During their time at RAKwireless, Frank worked as an Embedded Linux Consultant.

Currently, they hold the position of Staff Embedded Software Engineer at Element Energy.

Frank V. completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Studies from Pomona College between 1992 and 1997. Frank then pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo from 2002 to 2005.

In addition to their formal education, Frank V. has obtained several certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. Frank obtained certifications such as "AWS Developer - Optimizing on AWS" from edX in January 2023, "Speaker: Open Source Summit 2021" from The Linux Foundation in September 2021, and "AWS Developer - Deploying on AWS" from edX in January 2020. Frank also completed the "Intro to Self-Driving Cars Nanodegree" from Udacity in August 2019.

Furthermore, Frank V. has pursued various online courses and programs to expand their expertise. Frank completed courses like "Programming Languages, Part B" and "Principles of Computing (Part 2)" on Coursera in 2017. Frank also obtained certifications in subjects such as "Concurrent Programming in Erlang" and "Functional Programming in Erlang" from FutureLearn in 2017. Additionally, they completed online courses like "Realtime Bluetooth Networks" and "Embedded Systems - Shape the World" from edX in 2016.
