Vice President of Machine Learning at Elementary

V. Krishna Gopalakrishnan has a diverse and extensive work experience in the fields of machine learning, robotics, computer vision, and software engineering. V. Krishna is currently serving as the Vice President of Machine Learning at Elementary, a position they have held since July 2022. Prior to this, they worked as the Senior Director Of Platform & Vision at Elementary from November 2021 to July 2022.

Before joining Elementary, Gopalakrishnan was associated with Brandeis University, where they served as the Program Development Chair for the M.S In Robotic Software Engineering program. V. Krishna held this position from September 2016 to June 2023.

Gopalakrishnan also had significant roles at Realtime Robotics, Inc., Amazon Robotics, BAE Systems, Inc., Cognex, and Rutgers University. At Realtime Robotics, Inc., they worked as the Senior Director of Vision Engineering from September 2018 to October 2021. Here, they successfully built a perception team and led the development of an extensible architecture for building industrial vision apps.

During their time at Amazon Robotics from August 2015 to August 2018, they served as a Senior Software Engineer in the Robot Perception division. At BAE Systems, Inc., they held various positions including Sr. Principal Software Engineer, Principal Investigator for DARPA-MTO / IRIS Program, and Principal Investigator for Secure Vehicle Inspection. These roles involved leading teams, developing software architectures and tools, and advancing the state of the art in non-destructive integrated circuit characterization and contraband detection.

Gopalakrishnan's work at Cognex as a Principal Software Engineer focused on developing software and computer vision algorithms for industrial applications. V. Krishna developed algorithms for inspecting integrated circuits, solder paste, and reading barcodes.

V. Krishna obtained their education from Rutgers University, where they studied from 1996 to 1998 as a student.

Krishna further pursued their education and obtained a Master's Degree in ECE, specializing in Image Processing and Vision from Rutgers University between 1996 and 1998. In terms of certifications, they participated in the AWS Data Lab conducted by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and successfully obtained the certification in December 2022.
