Marian Akpai's work experience begins in 2018 when they worked as a Clearing/Admin Assistant in the student recruitment setting for the University of Essex. In this role, Marian assisted with summer recruitment activities, completed application forms for university admission, and provided support and guidance to university enquirers, applicants, academics, and new students.
Marian then transitioned to the role of Community Assistant at the University of Essex, starting in September 2018 and ending in June 2019. In this position, Marian managed a team of 7 Resident Assistants, coordinated and supervised their duties, kept detailed records of incidents, and monitored spending for RA events. They also provided opportunities for team development and motivation, which earned Marian the CA of the year 2019 award for their excellent handling of on-call incidents.
In August 2020, Marian worked as a Learning Facilitator (Computing) at St Albans International School. Their responsibilities included planning class lessons and homework through Zoom and Edmundo, teaching students how to build code using Scratch visual programming language to create animations, and teaching basic HTML and CSS for webpage development.
From September 2020 to December 2020, Marian worked as a General Operative at Serco.
Starting in December 2020 and ending in March 2021, Marian worked as a Junior Software Developer at Innovalabs. In this role, Marian assisted senior developers with projects in web application development, mobile app development, and web development. They also assisted with backend data entry using the vue.js framework.
Currently, Marian works as a Service Support Analyst at Elemica, starting in July 2021.
Marian Akpai's education history includes completing the GSCE program at Oxford Spires Academy. Marian then pursued A levels in Chemistry, Maths, and Sociology at St Gregory the Great Catholic School. Later on, they attended the University of Essex and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. In addition to their academic qualifications, Marian also obtained certifications in Adult MHFA from Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England in September 2018, and Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing and Switching (CCNA) from Cisco in November 2017.
