Vera Oliveira

Vera Oliveira has a diverse work experience. In 2021, they began working as a Data Scientist at Elephant Healthcare, where they create data models to meet business needs, builds and maintains multiple reports and dashboards for end customers, and provides real-time actionable insights to healthcare facilities. Vera also works as a Research Collaborator at Decipad, where they collect data on no-code and low-code apps, builds an interaction library to help the design team, and provides in-depth insights of how competitors and similar tools work. From 2015-2021, they worked as a PhD Candidate (cum laude) at CNIC - Spanish National Center for Cardiovascular Research, where they conducted a doctoral thesis on the molecular mechanisms of mesenchymal cell proliferation during embryonic cardiac valve development, collaborated with colleagues and external laboratories in publishing scientific articles, and frequently presented their work in-house and at national and international conferences. In 2014, they were a Visiting Master Researcher at ERIBA - European Research Institute for the Biology of Ageing, a Research Intern at University of Tuebingen, and a Research Intern at Neuropathology Group, DZNE - German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases. In 2013, they were a Visiting Bachelor Researcher at Department of Microbiology, Oslo University Hospital.

Vera Oliveira completed their Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Universidade do Porto between 2010 and 2013. Vera then participated in the ERASMUS exchange program at University of Oslo (UiO) in 2013. Following this, they obtained a Master of Science in Biochemistry from University of Tübingen between 2013 and 2015. Vera Oliveira then went on to complete their Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular Biosciences from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid between 2015 and 2020. In 2021, they obtained certifications in SQL Fundamentals, Data Cleaning in Python: Advanced, Exploratory Data Visualization, Python for Data Science: Intermediate, and Storytelling Through Data Visualization from Dataquest.io.
