Summary

Elephas, a Madison, WI-based biotechnology start-up company, is seeking a highly motivated Scientist (Imaging) to join our team.  Responsibilities will scale with experience and educational level. Applicants should be comfortable in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be a skilled and experienced researcher and microscopist who will contribute to the development, optimization, and validation of Elephas’ cancer diagnostics platform.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify innovative solutions to complex problems

  • Design and implement experimental studies utilizing advanced imaging techniques

  • Plans experiments independently with limited guidance and input from Scientists/Manager

  • Achieves successful outcomes on experimentation as a higher level contributor

  • Analyze, interpret, and present data in a clear manner at internal and external meetings

  • Actively participates in meetings offering insights and suggestions

  • Develop and validate novel processes and assays

  • Work in close collaboration with other team members to drive innovation

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment

  • Ensure accurate and timely recordkeeping in electronic laboratory notebooks

  • Contribute to drafting of technical reports and regulatory documents

  • Generates, documents, and communicates plans for critical aspects of a project

Education/Experience/Skills

  • Master's or PhD in biology, biophysics, physics, engineering or a related field preferred.

  • Experience with advanced biological imaging, image processing, digital image quantification, and assay development.

  • Experience in data analysis ideally using R, MatLab, or Python

  • Experience in multiphoton microscopy, fluorescence lifetime imaging or OCT/OCM required

  • Interest in developing applications for imaging and not just technology development.

  • Broad and deep background in research.

  • Pharmaceutical/biotech experience and cancer biology background preferred, but not required.
