Professor Tuchin is a world renowned expert in biomedical optics whose contributions to the field are diverse and cover areas such as fundamental aspects of tissue optics, laser spectroscopy and clinical applications of light waves. Professor Tuchin is the FiDiPro Professor of Optoelectronics and Measurement Techniques Laboratory at the University of Oulu in Finland and the Chair of Optics and Biophotonics at Saratov State University in Russia. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed papers and books. Additionally, Professor Tuchin and his group have designed and developed light scattering and coherence-domain techniques, as well as polarization-sensitive diagnostic methods and instrumentation for early diagnostics and monitoring of disease in ophthalmology, dermatology and other branches of medicine.
