Stuart King is the Research Culture Manager at eLife Sciences Publications, Ltd. Stuart has over ten years of experience working in the field of potato research, studying the devastating disease of potato late blight. Stuart has a Ph.D. in plant pathology from John Innes Centre, and their research has focused on understanding how the pathogen Phytophthora infestans is able to infect its hosts. Stuart has used a structural biology approach to study the molecular mechanism behind the function of some of the pathogen's effectors, and their work has contributed to the development of new methods for controlling this disease.

Stuart King completed their Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences at the University of Oxford. Stuart then went on to study Plant Pathology/Phytopathology and Structural Biology at the John Innes Centre, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy.
