Maria-Isabel Rojas has a wide range of work experience. Maria-Isabel started as a Senior Consultant for UNDP in 2012, then moved to Colorado State University as a Research Assistant in 2013. In the same year, they also became a Lecturer for Universidad San Francisco de Quito escuela. In 2014, they were a Consultant for Universidad Regional Amazónica Ikiam and a Researcher and Research Assistant for Cornell University. From 2015 to 2021, they were a Researcher PHD Student, Teaching Assistant, Field Technician, and Teaching Assistant for San Diego State University. Most recently, they have been a Project Lead for Eligo Bioscience since 2021.

Maria-Isabel Rojas obtained their International Baccalaureate Diploma from SEK International School between 2003 and 2005. Maria-Isabel then attended the Universidad San Francisco de Quito from 2006 to 2012, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnogy, Microbiology, and Scenic Arts. In 2016, they attended the Zentrum Infektionsbiologie und Immunität (ZIBI) International Summer School, where they studied Pathogen-host interplay. Maria-Isabel Rojas is currently pursuing their Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular Biology at UC San Diego, which they started in 2015 and is expected to complete in 2021. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Succeeding in a New Role By Managing Up from LinkedIn in November 2021.
